Introducing Two New Workshops for Spring!
Join me for the 2-hour online workshop, "Making Change Happen," or the 3-part deep dive, "Community-Centered Engagement: Spring Intensive"
Hey Changemakers!
Last month, I shared that I’m dedicating this year to the theme of grounding and the foundations that are core to meaningful changemaking and purpose-driven work in this world.
As part of this commitment, I’m focusing on workshops all year long that dive deeper into the foundational aspects of developing a healthier, more sustainable practice for work; building capacity for more meaningful, purpose-driven work; and providing the tools that can really help us be effective as agents in our changemaking work.
With March right around the corner, I’m thrilled to share the online workshops I’m launching for the Spring!
For Spring, I’m leading two different kinds of workshop experiences:
A 2-hour online introductory workshop called “Making Change Happen,” designed to help you kickstart your journey to becoming a meaningful changemaker
A longer, 3-part online intensive focused on “Community-Centered Engagement,” designed to help you build a stronger community-centered practice and advocate for more meaningful community involvement and partnerships at your organization.
Registration open for “Making Change Happen!”
I’m so excited to share the launch of Making Change Happen, a 2-hour long introductory workshop held through Zoom for professionals and graduate students designed to help kickstart your journey to becoming a meaningful changemaker.
I’ve run an earlier version of this workshop with institutions and at conferences, and am excited to launch it in its newest and updated form this spring!
This workshop is designed for those who have been curious about change agent work and don’t know where to start; are a student interested in nonprofit work; or simply want to dip your toes in before trying a longer workshop like the 4-week intensive “Summer Institute for Changemakers.”
In the workshop, we’ll identify specific change goals, learn practical strategies for making steps for change, and learn how to expand our sphere of influence in strategic ways to move towards collective action.
Participants also receive a workbook beforehand to use during the workshop —for notes, exercises, and post-workshop reflection.
Registration is $49. But if you are a student, you should use the code STUDENT to register at discounted rate of $39.
Workshop Dates and Times:
I’m offering the workshop three times, on different days and times, to accommodate to the widest range of schedules and time zones (including a May date scheduled with European times in mind).
When you sign up, you will choose from ONE of these options:
Thursday, March 21, 1-3 pm Eastern (10 am-12 pm Pacific, 5-7 pm London)
Wednesday, April 3, 3-5 pm Eastern (12-2 pm Pacific, 8-10 pm London)
Tuesday, May 21, 10-12 pm Eastern (7-9 am Pacific, 3-5 pm London)
As of now, this is the only time this year I plan to run this kind of introductory workshop. I hope you’ll join us for one of these workshops!
Register Now for the Community-Centered Engagement Spring Intensive!
If you’ve ever read my book, Museums as Agents of Change, or have worked with me before as a colleague or client, you’ll know how much I value community-centered practices as a key part of being an effective changemaker.
This April, I’m building on this foundation for the first ever Spring Intensive focusing on Community-Centered Engagement.
The 2024 Spring Intensive for Community-Centered Engagement is a 3-part workshop where we will dive deeper into key aspects of community involvement, community partnerships, and audience engagement strategies at your organization.
During a series of three interactive, discussion-based online workshops (held on Zoom), we are going to:
learn about the difference between an asset-based approach and a needs-based approach to community involvement and participation
examine models of community involvement, audience participation, and co-creation, understanding how these models can help guide a community-centered practice
engage in group working sessions geared to applying community-centered strategies to your organization
develop strategies and actions that can be implemented as part of your institution’s ongoing planning and programming
One of my goals for this Spring Intensive is to create an online community where we can get to know each other and learn from one another, so the registration is capped at around 20.
The Intensive also has an early registration discount (use the code: EARLYBIRD) if you register by March 15.
The Intensive is designed to serve the needs of anyone working on community involvement and audience engagement at their institution. It’s an especially great workshop for education and visitors services staff as well as those working in marketing, development, and curatorial departments.
Workshop Dates and Times:
Wednesday, 4/10, 2-4 pm Eastern (11 am-1 pm Pacific)
Wednesday, 4/17, 2-4 pm Eastern (11 am-1 pm Pacific)
Wednesday, 4/24, 2-4 pm Eastern (11 am-1 pm Pacific)
You'll receive a Zoom link and follow up details shortly after you sign up.
Reminder: we capping registration at around 20, so we can focus on getting to know and learn from each other, and build a core community that we can stay connected with after the workshop ends.
Deadline for early registration discount is March 15 (use the code: EARLYBIRD).
I’m really excited to launch this workshop and bring together an incredible group for this first-ever Community-Centered Engagement Intensive.
